Dan Moon – Assistant Farm Manager

Daniel is a farmer from Putnam Valley, NY, who brings to Brook Farm four seasons of experience with mixed vegetables, livestock, and micro-greens. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science from McGill University in Montreal and completed two seasons of farming at Common Ground Farm. Daniel returned to the Hudson Valley this winter from Ponder, TX, where he spent the last two years co-founding Cardo’s Farm Project, a community farm that continues to feed and provide agricultural outreach to the city of Denton. At Cardo’s, Daniel managed the vegetable production as well as infrastructure and sustainable systems development. He has led adult workshops in composting, garden planning, and sauerkraut making, and created CFP’s first farm internship programs. He returned to the Hudson Valley to be closer to his family and to continue farming in the region where he grew up.

Daniel is thrilled to be part of the Brook Farm team, and is looking forward to helping the advancement of the farm through hard work, innovation, and song. He will assist Creek this season in field and livestock management, farm music, and apprentice training. Daniel is also excited to expand his knowledge of no-till farming, edible and medicinal mushroom cultivation/foraging, micro-greens, and alternative livestock.
